Fall broadleaf weed control.

Fall is the best time to get rid of weeds.  When weeds are sprayed in the fall you can enjoy excellent weed control the following season.  That is why Metamora Golf and Country Club's maintenance staff is going for the throats of weeds this week.  This past spring the weeds were out of contol in the roughs, tees and fairways. Unfortunately turf managers can't wait until fall when the weeds are bad in the spring. Nobody wants to look at a golf course or other turf areas full of dandelion, clover and other broadleaf weeds all season long. When weeds are sprayed in the spring and early summer the tops of the weeds subside momentarely, but come back in late summer and early fall.  However, when weeds are treated in the fall you have a great chance of taking out the whole plant and getting 90% weed control.  The window for this opportunity is late September through mid-October.

This strategy holds true for those of you that strive to have weed free lawns at home.
