Moss & weed update

The moss looks to be 99% eradicated with a few lingering spots here and there.  When the weather gets  warmer hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will treat these spots.  We want the grass to be actively growing before the moss is treated.

I am also pleased to see that the broad leaf weeds are under control and over 85% of the golf course is weed free. In the next few days we will be treating the very few areas that do have some weeds.  Also last month some of the green and tee surrounds were treated with what is called pre-emergent crabgrass control.  Some of you probably have this type of application done to your home lawns.  This application works by creating a barrier at the soil and when crabgrass germinates it comes into contact with this barrier and kills the crabgrass.  Most pre-emergent products are on fertilizers so these areas get fertilized as well.  The key to weed free lawns and golf courses is to have a healthy full stand of turf.  So again please replace your divots and fix your ball marks.
