Assistance in Nuisance Goose Control

As many of you know, Canadian Geese can be very problematic on golf courses. They consume turfgrasses and leave their droppings all over greens, tees and other areas. Discouraging geese can be a daunting task especially if they don't feel threatened. We have done several things to try and discourage them with some success. The next step in trying to get them to leave the property is the use of a dog.

I purchased a dog for my family and hopefully using her at the course to harass the geese enough to want to nest and raise their young elsewhere. Ideally, Border Collies or other herding type dogs are preferred, but sometimes they can be challenging during the off season and as family pets. The type of dog I bought is a labradoodle. We wanted a dog that is good with kids, and other people, also a dog that doesn't shed and likes the water. Everything I have read about the breed fits our home, and hopefully the golf course. I have been taking her to obedience training and one of our members has invited us to his hunt club to work with her. She is still a puppy but is doing well, here is a picture of her. Clara loves people so make sure when you see her you say hello.
