The brown square on the back of #15 green was formed by us laying a piece of plywood down while this green was sprayed for annual bluegrass (poa annua) seed head suppression. We wanted to compare an area that was treated to an untreated area. Below is a picture of that area.
These next photos show the treated area vs. the non treated area. The sprays will suppress, not eliminate seed head production. We hope that seed head production is minimal and the seed heads stay tight against the putting surface minimizing bumpy ball roll.
