Things are winding down for the 2011 golf season, but the plants are still working. The grass is slowing down and so is the mowing, but believe me the turf is still busy. As grass plants start to harden off and prepare for winter they are building and storing carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are essential for survival over the winter. Photosynthesis still occurs in slow growing turf plants, allowing it to accumulate carbohydrates, and will continue to do so close to the ground freezing.
