Tough week for turf

This past week was very challenging for cool season grasses. When air temperatures get near or into the 90's and humidity levels remain high, cool season grasses can really struggle. We were fortunate, we received just enough rain to supply the soils with adequate moisture right before the heat wave. That enabled us to basically turn the irrigation off for almost the entire week to keep the surfaces dry. We can then watch dew patterns in the morning to help us determine what may need a little extra water and provide these areas with water by hand to avoid over watering.
